Some people get so offended when someone calls a celebrity their hero. I think people need to realize that a hero doesn’t have to be someone who is intentionally trying to save lives.
A hero could be someone as crazy as Ronnie Banks who is famous on Vine for making 6 second clips. It has nothing to do with someone stepping in front of a bullet for you or telling you that you’re worth a life, preventing you from committing suicide.
You might ask how it is possible to call someone a hero when they haven’t done anything for you in that sense, but if Ronnie Banks is giving you something to look foreword to each day and basically giving you a reason to smile, then that is really why people call these celebrities their heroes.
People need to understand that movies exist for a reason. Music exists for a reason. Social media exists for a reason. The people that create these ideaologies of excitement may be making a career out of it, but it keeps the world entertained.
Imagine a world without people smiling or having a good time. Without these human beings we call “celebrities” we wouldn’t have the excitement that we have. Music from your clubs come from them. The action films you watch come from hard work from them. Inspiration comes from these people.
I’m sorry that this is totally out of the blue, but I love my idol for a reason. And if we put them on a pedestal to let them know they are special and different from most people, there obviously is a reason for that. That doesn’t mean they’re necessarily better and more valuable to us then those we actually come in contact with around us, but those people around us aren’t always there to help us cope. We can rely on such things to be there for us no matter what, and during Christmas time, I can’t help but to thank them for that.
